The UCSB Center for Research in Electronic Art Technology (CREATE) will present “Vinyl streaming and the Groupe de Récherches Musicale (GRM),” a lecture with Swedish composer Ragnar Grippe, on Friday, May 3, 2019 at 5 pm in Studio Xenakis (Room 2215) in the Music Building. Sponsored by the Swedish Arts Grants Committee.

About the Artist

Ragnar Grippe has composed electronic music since 1973. Commissions from la Scala in Milan to film music, modern dance. His first vinyl record was released on the Shandar label in Paris (which also published Terry Riley, Philip Glass, La Monte Young, Steve Reich). This year 2019 DAIS Records in New York has released his modern dance piece Symphonic Songs – on vinyl. Grippe has lived in Paris where he studied at the GRM and with Luc Ferrari. He currently resides in Sweden. Last year Grippe collaborated with lighting designer Tobias Rylander to present Lumière Étrange at the Gagnef Festival in Sweden. Learn more at ragnargrippe.com.
