Oncologist and Pulitzer Prize-winning author Siddhartha Mukherjee’s new book The Gene: An Intimate History, debuted at No. 1 on The New York Times bestseller list. It is a magnificent history of the gene and a response to the defining question of the future: What becomes of being human when we learn to “read” and “write” our own genetic information? Mukherjee’s dazzling biography of cancer, The Emperor of All Maladies, is a fascinating look into the origins and causes of cancer and was deemed one of the 100 most influential books written in the English language since 1923 by Time magazine. Combining material from both, Mukherjee will examine the historic and future implications of cancer and of the gene with a biologist’s precision and a historian’s perspective. Pre-signed books will be available for purchase.
