Open Mind, Open Mic: A Night of Healing, Expression, and Unity

Wednesday, May 20, 2015
6:30 PM – 10:00 PM

Free Event

In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, come join us for a night of healing, expression and unity with our special guest speaker, Meg Hutchinson, an award winning singer-songwriter, poet, and yoga/meditation instructor who will share with us her journey with depression, suicide, and Bipolar Disorder.

After Meg, we will open up the mic to audience members. Just as Meg will express her resiliency with her mental health issues, each of us individually or collectively can share our abilities to overcome hardships, whatever those difficulties may be. We each have a unique story to tell and a unique way of sharing it. In remembrance of the tragedy on May 23rd, 2014, we hope to provide this space for our community to express, unite, bond, and heal together. We would love and encourage anyone to share their thoughts, feelings, and stories with us through poetry, music, art, spoken word, writing, dancing, spoken word, writing, dancing, speaking, or any mode of expression you see fit.
